Heartbreaker leaves home ....

Our last baby left home today to live with her new family - I was howling and snottering for hours after I dropped her off! She was an absolute angel last night and didn't howl ONCE when placed in her pen to sleep ... very brave when you are just getting used to sleeping without your sisters and only your 2nd night alone in the dark! However, I was woken by a tiny wee scratching at the side of the bed in the middle of the night ... she had made a bid for freedom (and a comfy mattress) and bedded down with her human 'mum' for the night! It seems so quiet tonight without them...

However, a very happy, gentle amber tom cat is purring with complete contentment! Marmalade has hated with cat venom having the puppies around and has sulked away from home for days on end like a huffy adolescent (sometimes hard to tell him apart from our other huffy adolescents of the human variety!). Surprising really, as he is used to sharing his pad with the 2 dogs and 3 other cats

Hope the pup settles into its new home quickly. Sounds like you are in contact with her new people so maybe you will get to dee her occasionally. At least the cat is happy! Our poor old cat never did get along with our puppy. The puppy was much too bouncy for a start, and all she wanted was to be allowed to sit on the back of the sofa in peace. There were one or two major stand offs with much hissing, spitting, yowling, and clouting with her paws (she had her claws removed - not by us, but before we had her) but after that they just basically ignored each other.

That pup is just so adorable - it breaks your heart when they have to go to their new families, doesn't it?

In our house, Thelma the cat, rules the roost. She wanders in through the cat flap and its like the parting of the Red Sea!! Molly (dog's) favourite game is to chase 3 of the cats out of the flap, across the garden and, as they leap onto the wall and anticipated freedom, she springs up to catch them by the tail and attempts to flick them back down! Only Thelma won't play!! TJ (youngest cat/tom) believes he IS a dog and rubs against our pooches at every opportunity! It fairly perplexes other dogs who expect him to run or avoid them outside and stops other dogs dead in their tracks. My wee heartbreaker had a really settled night last night and seems to be developing attachments to her new family. I don't think I could do this again though ... brought out all my maternal urges to the fore. And thank you for your lovely comments - really appreciate it! God help me when the children leave home, eh???
