Pay it forward!

I came across this lovely concept on Jacquie's blog (http://jacquie.typepad.com/) which just sums up far better than I can, the joy and pleasure in giving. I'm in danger of sounding ancient here but it worries me how society seems to have become so commercialised and focused on getting or receiving, rather than sharing. The act of sharing is still very much alive and well in the knitting community - with folk helping each other willingly with time, their experience and knowledge, sharing patterns ... and I'd love to do my little bit here. I've joined dreamcatcher's PIF buddies - check out her great blog (http://knittyinpink.blogspot.com)! Now, just to get over my neurotic anxieties that my own finished items might not be good enough!!
"It’s the Pay It Forward Exchange. It’s based of the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on. You all know I’m already a PIF type of person. So here’s how it works. I will make and send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment to this post on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I do not know what that gift will be yet, and it won’t be sent this month, probably not next month, but it will be sent (within 6 months) and that’s a promise! What YOU have to do in return, then, is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog."

My gifts may be knitted, or may be another craft ... I will do my best to pick something that the recipients would like. So - the first three people to comment and say that they would like to PIF, will be my recipients :-)

I'm really looking forward to being part of this!

That's a lovely idea. (Though I'm not actually signing up to join, sorry - just wanted to praise the idea). I'm up to my eyes in Christmas knitting so everything is on hold unless it's a pressie, even if it would be another pressie. Ok, I'll shut up now.

I'd love to have a go at this PIF. It might motivate me to knit something other than baby sweaters :)

Elle, I'd love to have you in this PIF ... thank you for joining! Would you mind emailing me at blogblethers@yahoo.co.uk so that I can start my Hercule Poiroit techniques about your likes and dislikes:)

And good luck with all your Christmas knitting, Fiona ... maybe next time for another PIF:)

Absolutely agree with you, Anni ... and am very much looking forward to making gifts for folk. It'll be lovely making something for others who you know will appreciate the time, effort and gesture. LOL if only I could get the kids to share that enthusiasm for my knits;)

Please feel free to join the PIF... 1 place already taken by Elle ... still 2 new friends to meet/sign up! Everyone very welcome ....
